We made our first visit to the Aquarius Habitat today! One diver at a time practiced with the diving helmet and did a quick tour of the habitat. Being the second to last diver, I had the option to snorkel above the habitat while others were diving. I decided not to have a sneak peek before my dive and I'm glad! jumping in with the helmet and seeing the habitat for the first time was exhillerating. I peeked into the porthole to see where I'll be sleeping for over two weeks. It looks bigger than I imagined! Though I'm not sure I'll feel that way after a few days of living in the habitat!
I got to climb all over the habitat- I jumped off the top down into a sand flat over 20 feet below!
The coolest part of my dive was finding the Moon Pool where divers are able to penetrate the habitat. Our DSO Roger told us not to enter the habitat today. Don't tell Roger but I quickly stuck my fingers through the Moon Pool! It felt like I was going to pass through into another dimension.
Tomorrow is our last day of dive helmet training. We will be able to officially stIck our heads up into the habitat via the moon pool!
